About Show Me Shorts
Show Me Shorts is Aotearoa New Zealand's leading international short film festival. With a legacy spanning 20 years, we have established ourselves as the premier platform for showcasing exceptional short films from around the world. Our annual festival captivates audiences nationwide, screening in 40 cinemas and community venues. The festival awards are both Oscar and BAFTA qualifying, offering filmmakers a pathway to international recognition at the highest level.

Role of Treasurer
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated accountant to join our Board of Trustees in the role of Treasurer. This is an unpaid volunteer role.
As a Trustee, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective governance and strategic development of Show Me Shorts. Your expertise and experience will contribute to shaping the festival's direction and enhancing its impact within the New Zealand screen sector. This is a unique opportunity to support filmmakers and foster creativity while contributing to the vibrant short film community.
As the Treasurer you will oversee the financial aspects of the festival, working with the Festival Director to create the annual budget, and provide reporting on financial aspects at board meetings.
Key Responsibilities
Attend five board hui per year (in Auckland or via video meet)
Plan and oversee annual budget in collaboration with Festival Director
Authorise fortnightly bill payments
Prepare financial reports for board meetings (P&L, Balance Sheet and budget variance)
Assist the Festival Director with any complex financial matters
Contribute to strategic decision-making processes
Ensure effective management and oversight of Show Me Shorts
Leverage your connections to promote the interests and development of the festival
Actively contribute to discussions and initiatives
Desired Attributes
Qualified practicing accountant with a minimum of five years of experience
Experience using Xero to a high level of proficiency
Love of cinema
Governance experience
Strategic thinker with the ability to contribute to long-term planning and development
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Commitment to supporting diversity and inclusivity
Affiliation with and understanding of the creative sector
