German Short Film Nights

Whimsy and wonder prevail in this collection of six German short films. Enjoy vibrant animations, and clever allegories. Meet cute or scary lost creatures, grapple with your identity or complicated romantic feelings, and help compose a flirtatious text message. It's an inspiring, relatable showcase from some of Germany's most talented filmmakers.

This collection of short films was curated in collaboration with Kurzfilm Agentur Hamburg and is presented in partnership with the Goethe-Institut New Zealand.

The six German short films include:

  1. Wüstentier (Desert Critter), an animation directed by Lina Walde

  2. T-Rex, an animation directed by Julia Ocker

  3. Masel Tov Cocktail a drama directed by Arkadij Khaet & Mickey Paatzsch

  4. Tako Tsubo, an animation directed by Fanny Sorgo & Eva Pedroza

  5. Berlin Matanoia, an absurd film directed by Erik Schmitt

  6. Muss Ja Nicht Sein, Dass Es Heute Ist (It Doesn't Have To Be Today), a drama directed by Sophia Groening
