2025 Entries now open!

Show Me Shorts opening night audience waiting for the films to start

This year, Show Me Shorts celebrates two decades of championing short films and the creative voices behind them. For 20 years, we’ve been the leading platform for bold storytelling, cinematic innovation, and inspiring connections in the global short film community. We want you to be part of our big 20th anniversary edition.

Our call for entries is officially open! Submit your film today and have the chance to bring your film to life on the big screen at 40 cinemas across Aotearoa New Zealand.

Show Me Shorts is a competitive, Oscar ® qualifying and BAFTA qualifying film festival. This means we are able to provide filmmakers with a pathway toward national and international recognition at the highest level.

Submit your short now to take advantage of the earlybird pricing discount by 1 April. The final extended deadline is 1 July.

We have made changes to the way we handle Entry Fee Waivers, which reflects the fact that we are receiving more and more entries now that we are considered a premium festival globally. For more information on these changes, please check the rules and terms on our FilmFreeway page.
