Story Boards
Storyboards are really useful. It’s a visual plan of every shot in the film, with descriptions.
The storyboard is a rough guide to help directors plan what the film will finally look like. It’s tool to help everyone visualise what they need to accomplish for each shot.
Each storyboard frame should show which characters are in shot, but more importantly - what the shot size, type and camera movement / position is.
On bigger productions, you’d often complete a shot-by-shot storyboard for your script as described above, but for small student productions a shot list will be just fine.
Here are a couple of links to show where Storyboarding fits in the pre-production process.
